I enjoyed the smells in the bakery, working with most people, and the samples that we received for new products.

I wish the work had been less feast or famine, and more steady in the work load.

Retail/food service is not for everyone, but if you are considering entering this kind of work you must consider, do I work well with people and do I have patience.

Everyone receives a bonus every few months. (Quarterly) Most of the assistant managers are absolutely amazing and will treat you like family.

I liked the experience gained in the profession whether that be counseling patients over new medications, communicating with prescribers, making calls to other pharmacies and such.
What I wish was different
The workflow of Hy-Vee Pharmacy is outdated and quite frankly a mess. The corporate offices do not care about the work the pharmacy does, only the money it makes. They are not interested in making the pharmacy a safer and more effective place for our profession.
Advice
It is a very high volume pharmacy with little square feet of workspace to get things done. Frantic and high-pressure work conditions.
